Our Purpose and How it Works

We believe that every child in our community deserves the fundamental right to grow up in a safe and loving environment. Therefore, our purpose is to ensure that every abused and neglected child that ends up in foster care in El Dorado County, through no fault of their own, has that same opportunity.

Each year we serve between 350-400 children in El Dorado County which compares with a median average of 166 children per program, throughout the 43 independent CASA programs that operate in California. We only able to do so because of the support of local volunteers and donors like you.

Studies conducted by the Department of Justice have shown that when CASA child advocates are involved in the life of a foster child:

  • More support: The children receive more services to help them recover
  • Shorter stays in foster care: Half as likely to be in “long-term” foster care
  • Better recidivism rates: Children who have a CASA advocate are 50% less likely to end up back in the child welfare system once they exist out

If you share our core belief that every child deserves the right to a safe and permanent home, please consider helping us in whatever way you are called to do so.

Announcing Spring Advocate Classes!

Helping Kids Who Need it Most

Volunteer Opportunity

Have you ever considered becoming a child advocate for CASA? Is this the right volunteer opportunity for you?

Our volunteer child advocates provide a voice for abused and neglected children and come from all walks of life, with a variety of backgrounds and interests; a full half of them are employed full-time. The primary requirement is a passion for serving children in need and the commitment to doing so.

Our next series of advocate classes are scheduled for this June and if you are interested in exploring this challenging and rewarding volunteer opportunity, please join us at one of our upcoming information sessions, scheduled throughout the county in April and May. These information sessions are designed to allow you to ask questions and learn more about what it takes to be a child advocate.

To find out more, please call Michelle at 530-622-9882 or email her at michelle@casaeldorado.org
