Each year we serve over 300 abused and neglected children in El Dorado County. However, we are able to do with a small paid staff, because of our reliance on unpaid volunteer staff who are the CASA advocates that work directly with the children, with the support of our Program Coordinator staff. Significantly, in recent years we have further increased our leverage of a volunteer staff, through the utilization of a model called Peer Coordinator. Peer Coordinators are experienced CASA advocates who help coach and mentor mainly new volunteers as they enter into service. This model of Peer Coordinators acting as the first point of contact for other CASA advocates, allows us to serve more children without adding cost.
