 Our Purpose and How it Works

We believe that every child in our community deserves the fundamental right to grow up in a safe and loving environment. Therefore, our purpose is to ensure that every abused and neglected child that ends up in foster care in El Dorado County, through no fault of their own, has that same opportunity.

Each year we serve between 350-400 children in El Dorado County which compares with a median average of 166 children per program, throughout the 43 independent CASA programs that operate in California. We only able to do so because of the support of local volunteers and donors like you.

Studies conducted by the Department of Justice have shown that when CASA child advocates are involved in the life of a foster child:

• More support: The children receive more services to help them recover
• Shorter stays in foster care: Half as likely to be in “long-term” foster care
• Better recidivism rates: Children who have a CASA advocate are 50% less likely to end up back in the child welfare system once they exist out
